Couldn't get a throttle body until sometime the next day I gambled and took off, have put 1000 miles on since with no problems, but now, instead of being confident and proud of my new truck (5 years ago) I'm worried every time I take off. They found a throttle body code but it was working and no engine light on. Tried to start vehicle and it ran fine.ĭrove into Gainesville, spent night and into dealer next morning. Spent 1/2 hr trying to get hooked up with a tow truck and was told it would be another hour. Able to pull off to the side without killing myself or anyone else. Going 80 in traffic on I-35 in Tx when truck all but quit, went into "limp mode". Ford where is the recall?ĭay one of 1300 mile trip from Iowa to South Padre, Tx. The tow truck driver said that these year Fords keep him in business b/c of the motor going bad and way to low mileage to have this kind of problem. I need a new motor and was told that it's got all the updated parts on it.which is why I wonder WHERE THE HELL IS THE RECALL ON THIS MOTOR!!!!!! to fix the issue. I was 900 miles outside of my extended warranty but feel that Ford could've done something way earlier when the light came on. My truck, with no warning, didn't sound right or drive right and warning lights on dash about low oil pressure. Well this happened 3-4 more times until I stopped calling Ford. I called my Ford dealer and told them about it and was told they couldn't help me out unless the light was on when I brought it in. I purchased an extended Ford warranty in June 2017 and in January 2018 engine light came on again while I was driving early in the morning and after about an hour turned off. I was way too upside down in the thing to do either. He said that these engines are notorious for cams going bad and I needed to try and sell or trade soon before I get any major issues. I took it to my local and very trust worthy mechanic and the code for the cams came up. Some things are meant to be stock I guess.įix was $5 for cleaner, $14 for air filter (lasts 10k miles) but I spent on the mass airflow sensor needlessly so do that after this as it might be unnecessaryĪround 94,000 miles my engine light came on. A little less torque than the aftermarket air filter but it actually runs.lol. Went back to stock FORD air filter and it runs perfectly. Took off the throttle body and cleaned with cleaner for about half an hour. Took apart intake and the THROTTLE BODY was dirty! Broke the plastic snap lock as it gets brittle, so fair warning on that. A couple months after it died FIVE TIMES! I replaced the mass airflow sensor, still died but was slightly better. Called and they towed it to dealer free of charge, checked it out, and said good to go. It died on me just as I pulled into my parking spot right after an oil change.
